Advanced Interview Project

Being Interviewed:

I was interviewed by Sean. I was a little nervous beforehand, I alway usually am – but as soon as we started I got right into the groove. Sean asked some pretty funny questions and I gave some pretty silly answers back. The Yeah Vermont at the beginning of the film is hilarious. There is a jump cut right after the that shot, but in my opinion it works really well. It kind of marks a change in tone in the film. The b-roll is very good, Sean actually went out and shot some footage for the film, giving it a very good feel. The videos are a lot better than just watching pictures pop up on the screen over and over again. I definitely approve of the work that Sean did.

Being Director of Photography:

Being director of photography was very easy for this interview of Sean. We all set up all of the equipment beforehand for the first interview, all I simply had to do was ask Sean were he wanted to sit and if he was comfortable. I then focused on with face manually and asked him to talk, specifically watching the movement of his face, to see if it stayed in focus the whole time he was talking. Once that was good, I quickly checked the sound and the lighting. Double checked everything and pressed record. It was an easy job, simply just make sure everything was all set and sat back and enjoyed the interview.

Being the Interviewer:

I interviewed Casssie. I have always struggled coming up with questions for my interviews. I never know to ask deeper more thoughtful questions, or just stick with basic questions. I have decided after this interview a mix of the two options is probably the best way to do it. Cassie was a very easy person to interview, she always repeated the questions before giving the answer and she was very engaged the whole time. Editing was time consuming, but it was pretty fun to play around with the effects and see what pictures I could find online. Ideally moving forward I want to transitions to a point where most of my b-roll is video instead of just still pictures. I also want to improve my editing skills going forward, getting better with color correction, transitions, and where and what I cut out for shots. I am looking forward to many more interviews in the future!
